Yes, it’s true, I have begun to infiltrate Tumblr, the last Social Media domain left for me to conquer! Mwuhahahah! I’ve been intrigued by Tumblr for a while now but hesitated to join up, previously it had always seemed like crossing a vast ocean in a small dingy boat. However, nowadays I’m more comfortable with looking foolish on The Internet and I’ve decided to give it go and push myself out of my comfort zone.
Stray Observations about Tumblr thus far:
~Pinterest + WordPress = Tumblr. It has the picture aspect of Pinterest but the blogging aspect of WordPress. I could just upload a a photo to Tumblr and call that a post, something I’ve not felt comfortable doing on WordPress. The possibilities are endless š
~While long wordy slab-posts aren’t common, I can do a word-slab rant post if I want to. So, Users of Tumblr considered yourself warned, Ambiguous Rants will be a thing of the future *snicker*
~I’ve always wanted to do “Currently Listening to…” posts but I didn’t feel that copying and pasting the urls of a bunch Youtube videos into a WordPress post was a good example of original content. However, that doesn’t appear to be a problem on Tumblr (if this is not the case, I’ll soon find out).
~I’ve noticed that while a few authors have websites, their websites aren’t updated very often (sometimes months at a time). Logic tells me they’re too busy doing what I should be doing, working on their current or next Work In Progress Novel Project, however I’ve noticed that while they may not update their website, they update Tumblr regularly. I suppose it’s easier to do short regular posts than regular long posts, especially with a busy work schedule.
So, if you have any recommendations for Tumblr pages, let me know in the comments section š
I’d say Tumblr is very much like a short-form LiveJournal with a few of WordPress’s features thrown in. But there are some great blogs to follow, which is why I signed up. I’m working on making my Tumblr more active, though – I was resistant to reblogging for a long time, but I can’t post enough original content to make it a Tumblr worth following, so I’m reblogging things I like/are relevant to what I’m about. After all, I guess my WordPress blog is about my original content, so my Tumblr can be part original and part curated.
Tumblr is great for rants that don’t belong on WordPress. (Me: Season 8 Doctor Who.)
(I’m reluctant to do currently-listening posts because most people aren’t listening to what I listen to! But maybe I should convert the masses to metal…)

The “part original/part curated” aspect sounds like a great idea. However, I feel I should warn you I have a great fondness for Very Demotivational pictures, I think my favourite one is Hope (http://www.despair.com/hope.html).
If you covert the masses to metal, people will probably be less angry at the world and you’ll have a legitimate reason to chant “One of us, one of us, one of us!” š
