Yearly Review: My Aim Needs Improving

improvement-objectives-300x299
On the surface, it would appear as though 2014 was not my most productive year:

Goodreads Challenge
Aim: Read 100 books in a year
Achievement: 12 books read in 2014

Book Reviews:
Aim: Read and Review all the books in the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix
Achievement: I managed to read and review three, but I ran out of time for Across The Wall and Clariel

NaNoWriMo Project
Aim: 50,000 – 80,000 word finished manuscript
Achievement: 50,835 words and I’m only halfway

Maid of Honor Duties:
Aim: Help Organize Wedding Stuff, such as the Hen’s Night (which involves me organizing a scavenger hunt and baking stuff) and Bride and Groom Scrapbook
Achievement: Well I’ve got another bride’s maid helping me with stuff, a contact list has been made, the invitations are done (they look nice, I didn’t make them), I’ve got a scavenger hunt list organised but the Hen’s Night is now an evening masquerade thing instead of a during the day thing so I’ll have to revise that. As for the scrapbook… Well I think this sums it up perfectly
IDK
Did I mention that the Hen’s Night is on the 10th of January and the Wedding is on 21st of February?

On the Other Hand…

I have a decent idea for the scrapbook, I just need to make an email list and time to send it out to all the people who want to contribute to it

I may be halfway through my “Metamorphosis: The House of Lilies” manuscript, but 50% is better than 0%.

In 2014, I helped edit Platform had an article printed in Platform as well, this year I plan on submitting to Platform and Overland and hopefully I’ll get accepted.

I have a better focus this year on the direction of where I want Ambiguous Pieces to go in, I want to review all kinds of books but especially books with Female Protagonists in them and analyse them critically. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep the distractions to a minimum.

I also passed all my subjects at University this year

I also managed to promote my friends and their work, such as “Netherland Dwarfs: taking care of them in Australia” by Michellina van Loder and “The Stillwater Files: Asylum” by K. A. Cook.

The things I want to accomplish are all within my reach, I just have to stretch myself. So while this year may have not been my best, it definitely wasn’t my worst. I’ve just got to keep going and keep making improvements, no matter how small they may seem to me.

    1. You’re welcome Misha, hopefully I’ll have “Metamorphosis: The House of Lilies” finished and edited (at least a little bit) by the end of the year
