This post is going to be about my progress on making the beaded jewellery/beaded fidget items for my giveaway. I still have a ways to go yet, but my progress thus far has been successful.

The six across compartments are sorted by colour (red, orange, yellow, green, light blue and dark blue). The four compartments down are sorted by type of bead (acrylic, transparent, pearlized, and matte hour-glass shaped beads). In the photo, there are two compartments empty: red pearlized beads and light blue pearlized beads.

Maybe it’s just me, but there is something indescribably frustrating about those two empty slots, for most people, they probably wouldn’t even notice. But it bothered me, so I hunted high and low via Ebay for red pearlized beads and light blue pearlized beads (with some additional trial and error), but finally, I found them. I now have a complete rainbow! Behold!

Mwuhahahahah! Nothing can stop me now, except my terrible sense of organisation and procrastination tendencies, however, moving on… As I’ve completed my rainbow collection of beads, I’ve been able to make my Rainbow Beaded Lanyards (links below):

I’ve also been able to make my larger Bead Bracelets for the Zipper-lanyards (pictures below):

The first ring has red-themed beads, the second ring has blue-themed beads and the third ring has green-themed beads. I’ve also made Bead Ring Necklaces. Here’s pictures of the rings:

The hardest part of the Bead Ring Necklace was the little loops that go between the key-ring/split-ring and the rat-tail cord. In my case, I used black rat-tail cord for one set of necklaces, but I had to use Rainbow String I purchased from Lincraft for the second batch of necklaces, and I must confess, I do like the coloured string.

I’m just so glad I could find a use for the Rainbow String (I was super disappointed I couldn’t use it make beaded lanyards – no friction for sliding and I have a feeling I would eventually pull the beads past the knot at the end). Here’s pictures of the finished Bead Ring Necklaces:

I’ll be going into Footscray and Daiso on Thursday to pick up a few bits and pieces, I’ll need to wait for a few things to come in the mail (such as the strawberries – they take forever to arrive, but they’re worth the wait) and I should be set. I’m actually kind of surprised I’ve managed to make/obtain most of the prizes before the start of March. I expected to running around like a headless-chook through out March (and maybe a little into April if I’m being honest). It could all still go horribly wrong, but thus far, things are looking good.

List of Possible Prizes:

Image Description: from left to right, a Blue bubble-wand, a Green bubble-wand and a Pink bubble-wand

Image Description: from left to right, a Blue bubble-wand, a Green bubble-wand and a Pink bubble-wand

1 x Bubble Wand (1 x Pink, 1 x Green and 1 x Blue)

Unfortunately due to the to the nature of Australia Post, I’m going to have to bubble-wrap the ever-loving fuck out of these items (Yay! An Excuse to buy excessive amounts of Bubble Wrap), but its better than the alternative.

Image Description: from left to right, a blue and red zip-lanyard and a yellow and red zip-lanyard

Image Description: from left to right, a blue and red zip-lanyard and a yellow and red zip-lanyard

1 x Zip Lanyard with large beaded-circle (1 x Blue and Red, 1 x Red and Yellow, 1 x Pink and Green)

I bought these from Daiso and I have yet to obtain the pink and green one, however, this can be easily fixed. The end result will hopefully look something like this. I’m not sure if I’ll use wooden beads, I’ll probably just use the ones I’ve already got, but I do have some large star beads with a metallic sheen to them (I got them from Lincraft), but I’ll see how I go.

Image Description: from left to right, a green-purple-red-yellow transparent Tangle Jr and a various-shades-of-purple Tangle Jr

1 x Tangles Jr each (1 x Red/Pink tangle, 1 x Blue Tangle, 1 x Green Tangle)

Kim went above and beyond the call of duty and was able to travel to both of their local Toyworld Stores and obtain more Tangles on my behalf (here’s a link to their post). Tangle Jr (or any type of Tangles really) are super difficult to obtain in Australia, so I figured from the very beginning I had to involve a Tangle Jr in my giveaway.

Image Description: three black and white snake puzzles from K-Mart

1 x Black and White Snake Puzzle

I was hoping to get my hands on the Stationery Gift-Bags at K-Mart, which contain bigger snake puzzles, but unfortunately my local K-Mart sold out of them. It also means I’ll have to put all the Stim Toys in a Daiso Shoe Bag instead (picture below).

Image Description: three large Kids &Co. multi-coloured large bouncy balls

Image Description: three large Kids & Co. multi-coloured large bouncy balls

1 x Kids & Co. multi-coloured large bouncy ball

Kim bought me one of these for Christmas and I love it, it’s roughly the size of my palm, which makes it easier to catch and bounce in comparison to my smaller bouncy-balls. It’s bright colours makes it easier to focus on and it turns out problems with fine motor skills are a Neurodivergent thing, so I figured it should be included.

1 x Squishy Strawberry each

For some reason, this Squishable Strawberry has kind of become my thing, I even have a strawberry mascot for my blog.

Image Description: A cushion in the shape of a pale-pink strawberry with a cute smiley face and gold-coloured seeds.

I’ve done a review of these as Stim Toys and, just like the Tangles, I felt as though these Strawberries should be included in the giveaway (you can purchase these items from Ebay and Banggood). To my knowledge, the colour selection is random, so I won’t know what colour they will be until they arrive, however, knowing my luck it’s most likely that all the Strawberries will be dark pink.

2 x Beaded lanyards (one long, one short)

Now, the beaded lanyards pictured above are ones that Kim has made for me, so mine probably won’t be as good as I’m just starting out, however, I have ordered the various required items from Ebay, so hopefully by the end of March, all the prizes will be completed and ready to ship out. I’m planning on the long beaded lanyard being rainbow themed, like this:

Image Description: a long beaded lanyard mad of black elastic with a rainbow spectrum of beads. The beads are a pattern of three different types of beads. The first one is acrylic, the second one pearlized and the third is transparent. The colour sequence is white, pale-pink, hot-pink, orange, yellow, green, light-blue, dark-blue and purple.

The first one is acrylic, the second one pearlized and the third is transparent. The colour sequence is white, pale-pink, hot-pink, orange, yellow, green, light-blue, dark-blue and purple.

I would also like add that if a winner of the giveaway would prefer a pride-themed long beaded lanyard instead, that can be accomplished. The winner would have to tell me which pride style they would like and it also might take a little longer for the package to be shipped out, but that’s a small detail. At this point in time, I almost have a full rainbow in terms of colour and type, but the two gaps I have will soon be remedied.

Image Description: two necklaces with white cord, four chrome-coloured small loops and a key ring with beads on them, from left to right, the first necklace has green-yellow-pink-blue-pink-yellow-green coloured beads. The second necklace has white-orange-yellow-orange-white coloured beads

2 x Bead Ring Necklaces (one long necklace made with black rat-tail cord, one short bead ring necklace made with rainbow string)

Now, Kim made these ones for me as a Christmas Present, so my ones won’t be the exact same colours, but hopefully it’ll be the same sort of style. I’ll go into more details about this in another post (I’ve also included a link on how to make these in the links section below), but I found out that while I couldn’t use the rainbow string to make beaded lanyard, however, it might be possible to use the rainbow string as short Bead ring necklaces, I’ll make a separate post dedicated to making stuff with beads, although I would like to point out I’m a complete noob at these things.

Image Description: three gel ice packs, one orange pack and two blue-green packs

Image Description: three gel ice packs, one orange pack and two blue-green packs

1 x Gel Ice Package each

This one was a bit of a last minute addition, perhaps to make up for the fact that I ordered a couple of pencil-cases off Ebay and it turns out they’re scented items.

Image Description: there are two pencil-cases in the picture, from left to right, the first one is a pink Smencil Buddies - Rainbow Sherbet Pencil Case and the other is a green Smencil Buddies - Watermelon Pencil Case

Image Description: there are two pencil-cases in the picture, from left to right, the first one is a pink Smencil Buddies – Rainbow Sherbet Pencil Case and the other is a green Smencil Buddies – Watermelon Pencil Case

While I don’t have a problem with the way the pencil-cases smell, in fact I think they smell delicious, however, I’m trying to avoid scented items and slime for this giveaway (there are far too many variables involved in scented-items and slime).

So Yeah… Those are my potential prizes on offer for my Disability Give-away, pretty cool eh? Tell me what you think in the comments section below, also feel free to tell me what your favourite type of stim toy is :).

My Treasure Chest – Part 3: What I Got For Christmas

a collection of gifts wrapped in Christmas themed wrapping paper (I’ll go into detail within the post). What can be seen is a large Kids &Co. multi-coloured large bouncy ball, a pink pig critter puff, a pink and yellow slinky, a large blue balloon filled with flour, a pink circle with raised dots on it and multiple zip-lock bags with telephone cord hair-ties inside them.

Not to sound like I’m bragging, but I got some awesome stuff for Christmas, some of it was Stim Toys and general stuff from Kim but I also wanted to include gifts I got from other people as well :D. I also wanted to include somethings I bought post-Christmas too.

Books:

I was so happy when Kim said they had a copy of The Princess Bride on DVD that they no longer wanted, I’ve been meaning to do a “Book VS Movie Review” for The Princess Bride for ages! My partner has never seen the movie or read the book, so I figured I could remedy at least one of those problems.

Kim’s given me so many Tamora Pierce books, I’ve had to make a Book list so that I know which ones to read in order, but I’m really looking forward to reading them :).

Beaded Jewellery:

I love beaded jewellery, I especially love the rainbow and pink-green-black-green-pink beaded necklace (should be the second picture), while I like the texture of the black and white rat-tail cords, I love the texture of the shorter necklaces. I wore the rainbow necklace with one of my rainbow unicorn and narwhal t-shirts (pictured below) for Christmas Day.

Telephone-cord Hair-ties:

I love these and I love to wear telephone-cord hair-ties that match my shirt and beaded-jewellery necklace, for example: blue shirt, blue beaded-jewellery necklace and three or two blue telephone-cord hair-ties on my wrist (though I prefer three, I sometimes have to settle for two, depending on colour availability)

Fake Kinetic Sand:

My partner and I bought a kinetic sand-kit for his god-children (although technically he is only the godfather to one of the children) as a Christmas present, however, I pretty much spent the whole time playing with it instead while my partner and the children fired water pistols at each other. It’s fucking brilliant! I can’t wait to get back home and play with my own fake kinetic sand kit, although I truly recommend a medium-large tray and a clear work-space.

Miscellaneous Fidgets:

Another slinky to add to my collection, which is great, and the pink circle is apparently a dog-chew-toy but it does feel good to run my fingertips over the raised dots. More pink and yellow themed play-doh, which is always good, but I’ve found that I often use the Liquid Motion Bubbler to either measure time or help me refocus when I need take a break or just relax.

My expanding collection of Piggies:

Aren’t they all adorable? I already had the coin purse in the fourth picture but now that I have the trifecta of Daiso piggies, I can probably use them to summon the Hogfather (maybe?), they are adorable regardless. The little figurine is a little fragile so it was wrapped in bubble wrap and, me being me, I spent more time playing with the bubble-wrap than with the figurine (I fucking love bubble-wrap). But I put the figurine inside one of the sponges, then put that sponge inside a coin purse, resulting in a Turducken of Piggies.

These are all great, but I’m quite fond of the Kids & Co. multi-coloured bouncy-ball (it’s from K-Mart), I’ve already had a good play with it at home, it’s larger size makes it easier for me to catch. I really like the spikey balls as well as as the soccer ball.

According to Kim, you sprinkle the chocolate flakes on freshly buttered toast and is most delicious when the chocolate flakes are softened (but not melted completely). Kim has also informed me that they can be found in specialised Delicatessens but the expiry date might be a bit iffy, although they’re still good even if they are past their expiry date.

*SQUEEE!* Brendon got me these from Tee Turtle, he’s amazing :D. I wore the unicorn and narwhal t-shirt with the rainbow beaded-jewellery necklace (pictured above) on Christmas Day.

Random Stuff I Bought:
Image description: two necklaces made from seven coral-pink and maroon-red hexagonal silicone beads strung onto and coral-pink and maroon-red cord with a black breakaway clasp. The necklaces are a clear plastic zip-lock storage bag with a silver ring for hanging on a hook. The barely-visible silver text on the bag reads “clothing and co”. Stim Toy Box: seven aqua hexagonal silicone beads
Kim recommended these on their Stim Toy Box blog (they got an nice aqua coloured one), I was aiming for pink, but these were the closest I could find. I’ll see how these go for use as a subtle Fidget. I also bought some other stuff from K-Mart such as a pink make-up blending sponge and a watermelon plushie for Kim (although I will be the first to admit the fact that the watermelon plushie does look a little demonic). I was tempted to purchase a Munchy (for myself) but I refrained and got some play-do instead.

Stim Toy Box: Snake Puzzles
I bought two small snake puzzles from Smiggle and a blue-pink-purple snap-bracelet with spikes on it (I’m currently wearing it on my left wrist beneath my pink-orange-and-yellow telephone-cord hair-ties), every time my partner snaps it onto my wrist, I giggle, it just feels so enjoyable to hear the snapping sound combined with the pressure sensation (I know that sounds weird, but I don’t really care).

So yeah, that was my Christmas, I hope my readers also had an awesome (and below 30 degrees) Christmas and if you want to talk about Stim Toys or Christmas gifts (or both), let me know in the comments section.
